A special feature is the documentation of the spatial staging developed by COOP HIMMELB(L)AU. It shows the continuity and diversity of the formal vocabulary that developed over a period of 40 years in the architects' extensive work. The exciting selection includes current urban development projects such as the BMW Welt, Munich (2001-2007), the Musée des Confluences, Lyon (2001-2010), and the European Central Bank, Frankfurt am Main (2003-2011). Through photographs, renderings, planning material and drawings, the reader is introduced to unrealized and already realized projects as well as construction projects that are still being planned.

Texts by Jeffrey Kipnis, Sylvia Lavin and Peter Noever make interfaces between architecture and history, literature, film and fine art in the work of COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, enabling a profound insight into the conceptual working methods of the architects, who are among the most innovative and important of ours Count time.

The publication was published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name, designed specifically for the MAK Vienna (December 12, 2007 - May 12, 2008), which was put together as the largest and most comprehensive museum presentation to date by the global team of architects with offices in Vienna and Los Angeles.
