The company J. & L. Lobmeyr (founded in Vienna in 1823), which had existed for more than 180 years, was the leading glass publisher of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and was known for the highest quality and artistic design. The MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts/Contemporary Art has one of the most important collections of Lobmeyr glasses from the 19th century. This unique collection of exquisite pieces has been completely scientifically recorded for the first time with detailed information, illustrations and comparative examples for this inventory catalogue. Valuable background information about the company and the general development of the Austrian glass industry at that time make the catalog an indispensable reference work for collectors and museum experts.
